This week featured another good experience at Tramsheds in Forest Lodge. This time around, 1904 Bodega. Billing itself as a tapas and wine store, 1904 Bodega is the latest offering from the ever reliable team behind Surry Hills dining sensation Porteño. Teaming up with chef Joel Humphreys, Bodega 1904 continues the founders’ enthusiasm for local, seasonal produce and shared dining experiences. At the centre of the space is the groups first retail wine store. Wines have been curated by Joseph Valore and offer a mixture of boutique local and imported wines.
The menu offers a mixture of tapas and share plates and changes with the seasons. On our visit, highlights included the pickled green tomatoes, pickled mussels, cured cabbage, celery with parsley (pictured), grilled queso fresco with burnt leek and salted lime vinaigrette, smoked eggplant, caramalised baby onions and goats milk feta, the spatchcock, creamed corn, and crispy yuca, and lastly, the grilled asparagus, labna, harissa with deep fried eggs.
