One Outfit For Life is a clothing related project asking the question; ‘If you could only wear one outfit for the rest of your life, what would it be?’
The idea explores why we gravitate to certain looks; outfits that work for the various aspects of our life—work, home, hobbies, going out with friends—, whilst also reflecting our unique personalities. In this series, we ask people of different styles, professions and ages to think about what they wear and why one outfit is the best fit for their life and why each interviewee came up with their particular outfit ahead of all other available choices.
Here we speak with Anomaly Ventures Founder Peter Wright about the versatility of an outfit routed in high-quality denim and grounded in a colour palette of deep navies, blacks, and neutral sand tones. This allows Peter to seamlessly move between a morning meeting, an airport lounge, a long haul flights and still look pulled together in a wine bar at the other end of the day.

If you could only wear one outfit, what would it be and why?
Starting with the base, it begins with dark, high-quality raw denim—either Japanese denim from Edwin or Petite Standards from A.P.C which I pair with a navy or black tee. I’ve always gravitated toward technical merino wool from Outlier NYC or Unbound Merino though I’m happy wearing ultra-soft cotton or cotton-cashmere tees from James Perse. In cooler weather, I layer it with a navy 24-hour blazer from L’Estrange London in a technical nylon fabric. It adds a little bit of structure without being restrictive or formal. If it’s really chilly, I’ll layer up with a navy zippered gilet underneath—at the moment, I’ve got one from Benetton. For footwear, I rotate between sand suede trainers from the Swedish brand CQP and sand suede chukkas from Officine Creative, though lately I’ve been experimenting chocolate suede oxfords from Loake which are slightly more adult. The look is framed by thick acetate “Judd” frames from Cubitts in London—I like the shape so much I have them in quartz, black, tortoise shell, and as sunglasses. I travel a lot so, practicality is my priority for a bag – everything I need goes into a black Bellroy Transit 30L backpack and a navy tote from Yoshida Porter depending on the trip.
How does this collection of clothes allow you to move between the various aspects of your life?
For me it’s an effortless way to dress and versatile enough to seamlessly span a morning meeting, an airport lounge, a longhaul flights, and still looks pulled together in a wine bar. My preferred colour palette is grounded in deep navies, blacks, and neutral sand tones so everything works together without requiring a second thought in the morning.

If money was no object, what is the ultimate version of this outfit?
Honestly, I’m pretty much there. I don’t think I need to improve on this a lot even though there are more expensive versions. Each piece has earned its place through sheer performance, comfort, and longevity. When you find technical garments and raw denim that fit perfectly and withstand heavy travel, spending more doesn’t necessarily make it better.
What is the origin of this look for you?
I’ve been wearing this look—or variations of it—for years, since back when I was workin’ for the man. Even bespoke suiting often felt overly precious to me for the life I was living. I wanted an aesthetic that was still sharp and deliberate without sacrificing performance or movement in case I need to make a quick escape. In a way, moving to technical fabrics, high-grade merino, James Perse knits, and raw denim was the ultimate liberation: it gave me back all the sophistication of tailored dressing without any of the fuss. Or something like that.
How do you feel when you wear this?
I’m relaxed but pulled together. It removes all the decision fatigue from getting dressed while ensuring I am authentic, presentable, and ready for whatever my day or travel schedule demands.
