Beard is the kind of neighbourhood restaurant that I have always dreamt about. Voted one of best restaurants in the world by Monocle, the husband and wife duo have created a casual dining experience where refined cooking is served in friendly and relaxed atmosphere. The menu varies dependant upon the availability of regional produce and is supported by a mostly Japanese wine list. On our visit, we had the charcuterie plate, Kingfish carpaccio with shaved turnip, salad of kale, persimmon, fig and cabbage and to finish, seared beef heart with shoestring fries. The menu is bilingual (Japanese/English), with the overall experience leaving you wishing you could visit far more often.
