Chaco Bar, Darlinghurst

Chaco Bar is chef Keita Abe’s 25 seat yakitori style eatery in Darlinghurst. The dimly lit space opened in 2014 modelled on the restaurants from Abe’s native city of Fukuoka. The fit out features portraits of Japanese cooks painted directly onto the walls, rustic wooden tables, ceramic bowls and low, intimate lighting. The yakitori—translating to ‘grilled bird’—at Chaco Bar means delicious skewers of grilled chicken with numerous meat and vegetable side dishes. Expect to eat various grilled chicken, wagyu beef and pork belly skewers accompanied by dishes of sashimi, eel and vegetables. Japanese whiskey, sake and beer also feature prominently on the menu ensuring dinners leaves happy and satisfied.
