Style Rider, Atsushi Yasui – Harley Davidson EL

Style Rider aims to document the world’s most stylish motorcycle riders, be they riders of classic, custom or cafe racer steeds. Focused on the intersection of motorcycle culture with individual style, here we speak to passionate vintage Harley rider, racer and collector, Atsushi Yasui.

Name: Atsushi Yasui

Residence: Tokyo, Japan

Occupation: President of Freewheelers & Company

Instagram: @sushi_thefreewheeler

Today’s ride: 1940 Harley Davidson EL

Describe your style: Motorcycle club style of the 1940s.

Favourite items: Jeans, leather and military jackets.

Next purchase: I always look for the very best and keep an eye out for products that surprise or impress me.

Style icon/inspiration: Old photos and photo album books.

Best local ride: From Harajuku Shibuya to Odaiba, the bay area of Tokyo.

Best distance ride: Tokyo to Okutama, a big nature area 90 kilometres west of the city.

Tip for stylish riding: Your style of dress should complement your bike. I always ensure my clothing matches the bike I am riding. If I am riding a 1940’s Harley, I wear period-correct motorcycle gear.

Next motorcycle trip: Anywhere in the world. I just want to ride.

Why do you like riding? Two reasons. First, the feeling of openness. Second, the freedom that comes from not being restricted by time.
