Style Rider, Fabienne Phillips – BMW S1000RR

Style Rider aims to document the world’s most stylish motorcycle riders, be they riders of classic, custom or cafe racer steeds. Focused on the intersection of motorcycle culture with individual style, here we speak to Fabienne Phillips about being in the moment and adding an Hermes scarf to your outfit for a dash of glamour.

Name: Fabienne Phillips

Residence: Sydney, Australia

Occupation: Founder and Head Instructor, Girl Torque cc motorbike training for women

Instagram: @girltorque.cc

Today’s ride: 2017 BMW S1000RR

Describe your style: Simple, understated protective clothing with the bike dictating the style. Adding a good looking Hermes scarf adds a certain glamour and can make a chic statement. I am wearing TKD riding jeans, Falco boots, a market stall belt, Hermes scarf, Dainese Nikita jacket and Shoei Air GT II helmet. Functional, protective with a dash of glamour.

Favourite items: @kriegaaustralia bullet and rain proof bags for long haul rides; @rocky_creek_designs helmet locks and @dririder textile jackets. Finally a jacket that provides a woman a waist! Lastly, navigating the roads is easy with a @quadlockcase; I couldn’t operate Girl Torque cc without it.

Next purchase: An Aspendale Jacket by @blackbirdmotorcylewear. I can’t pass up a unique jacket.

Best local ride: Yanko Road and Comenarra Parkway to the Old Pacific Highway if you can catch it without traffic!!

Best distance ride: Oxley Highway to Walcha in NSW or Philip Island in Victoria.

Tip for stylish motorcycling: Keep it simple and wear protective clothing.

Dream riding kit: A Krieger with a bladder of ice cool water with a tap!

Next motorcycle trip: The Pyrenees. Majestic mountain roads between France and Spain.

Why do you like riding? I’ve been snow skiing since the age of four and it remains my passion. Unfortunately this means I’m limited to winters in Australia or trips overseas and these are not conducive to a spontaneous adrenalin rush!! Motorbike riding has always filled the gap with unlimited riding available from my door-step. I can enjoy an endless tap of “being in the moment”, it’s refreshing to step out of life for bit while you’re on a motorcycle.
