Style Rider, Jono Albulario – BMW K75 Skrambler

Style Rider aims to document the world’s most stylish motorcycle riders, be they riders of classic, custom or cafe racer steeds. Focused on the intersection of motorcycle culture with individual style, here we speak to Jonathan ‘Jono’ Albulario, Account Director and custom cafe racer rider about riding stylishly in the urban environment.

Name: Jonathan (Jono) Albulario

Residence: Sydney, Australia

Occupation: Account Director, Samsung

Instagram: @jonoalbu

Today’s ride: 1996 BMW K75 Skrambler. Scored it by chance when I struck up a conversation with an older neighbour. He had it sitting in the garage for 8 years on a trickle charger. It was straight out of Chips, cassette deck, windscreen and all. I probably stripped off more than I left behind.

Describe your style: A little bit old-school gentleman, with a twist of urban lumberjack and sprinkling of 90s hip hop. Has to be safe and convenient for riding, without it necessarily looking like riding gear. I love a weathered vintage piece and would take a clean white t-shirt over a logo any day.

Favourite items: Saint Kevlar denim vest with merino Kevlar gauntlets.

Next purchase: 1979 (my year of birth) Harley Davidson Shovelhead

Style inspiration: nobody in particular but James Dean did know how to rock a white T-shirt.

Best local ride: Royal National Park to Stanwell Tops. I especially love the return ride with all the uphill twists and turns.

Best distance ride: LA to the Grand Canyon, via Palm Springs and Las Vegas along Route 66.

Tip for stylish motorcycle riding: keep it simple, keep it safe.

Next motorcycle trip: Eventually I would like to ride around Australia taking three months, my camping gear and no itinerary; but we’ll have to wait for the kids to grow up.

Why do you like riding? My helmet is my headspace, the engine is my Ohm. Along with the peace it brings me is the satisfaction of getting my projects on the road. Plus, motorcycles get rock star parking.
