Bistro Moncur has been a long-time favourite with eastern suburbs diners for the consistency of the cooking and superior service of the floor staff. Expanding to a second location in the newly renovated Buena Vista Hotel feels like a natural step. The fit out is by SJB and Tess Regan Design and is superb with its mix of pale green window frames, blonde wood furniture and combination leather/brass/fabric seating making for a beautiful, and comfortable dining experience.
Similar to the Woollahra restaurant, the floor staff know their business and the focus on quality is evident throughout the meal. Bistro Moncur Mosman’s kitchen is overseen by French chef Guillaume Brahimi (Guillaume and Four in Hand) and PHMG’s executive chef Ben Varela. The menu is essentially the same as in the Woollahra original with favourites including the French Onion soufflé and grilled Sirloin Cafe de Paris with frites served with typical aplomb. This is a good restaurant and one to patronise while over on the lower north shore.
