Berlin

Berlin is an amazing city, with a mix of architecture styles and influences from beautiful museums and galleries, to areas that reflect the history of war where up to 70% of Berlin was destroyed during the bombings. The people are friendly, and more than happy to assist if you get lost, with some great bars and restaurants.  It is a relatively small city, somewhat similar to Melbourne, with is art and culture, parks by the river, it even has trams…

The Photography Gallery has some great works by Helmut Newton, and the National Gallery being the last project designed by Mies van der Rohe is a must see. The Holocaust Museum is also worth a visit, a series of thousands of polished concrete blocks as Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe, also known as the Holocaust Memorial, and was designed by architect Peter Eisenman and engineer Buro Happold.
